Well folks, I can't believe it, but it happened--my older brother Jake got hitched this weekend up in Stillwater, Minnesota and I now have a lovely older sister (which I always wanted). Seems like just yesterday he was smothering me with a pillow or we were catching frogs down in the creek. I made the eight hour drive to Minneapolis this past Tuesday. The wedding was yesterday (August 31st). The ceremony was short and sweet, followed by a cocktail hour (and magic show by my father), dinner a la Falafel King, and dancing to follow. I had a blast tearing up the dance floor. Luckily the rain held off until we were breaking down the tables. I couldn't believe how weird "civilization" felt after being on the Rez for only a month and a half. Rush hour traffic in Minneapolis caused much anxiety and a night out with my friend in Eau Claire was overwhelming. While I had a lot of fun this past week, I'm glad to be back in the quiet of Dupree. Tomorrow is our final day of preparations for after school programming, which starts on Wednesday!
