July started off with a bang. One of the ghosts shops on Main Street opened up for the last week of June and the first week of July to sell fireworks, which are legal in South Dakota. Open from 10-10, the old drive in diner served as a fireworks supplier for the kids of Dupree, which served up a real head ache for me. From 9 in the morning till 11 o'clock at night, the kids (with money from their parents/aunties/grandmas) shoot off fireworks in the streets, on the Y deck, under our tree, and in our tire obstacle course. I'm hoping things will settle down as today is the last legal day to sell fireworks in the South D, but I can hear them exploding as we speak. It's like living in a war zone.
I used Friday, my "day off" to spend 16 hours in Rapid doing shopping for the Y with Medina. At least I got to see "Magic Mike XXL" and some paneer korma out of it. On Saturday the 4th was the Iron Lightning Powwow but I only lasted for three hours of it, after getting to bed at 4 am the night before and it being in the 90s.
