I woke up to my alarm clock fizzling out. Apparently today was a "planned power outage," but no body knew. I came back for lunch to find running water basically exploding out of my faucets. It's supposedly just air in the pipes from maintenance, but it sure did take a long time to run it clear. That and the mushrooms growing from the crack in my ceiling have me feeling a little overwhelmed on top of running a day camp. (Don't worry Mom and Dad, I'm sleeping in Colleen's room until we can call in a favor to gut the ceiling--Sorry Colleen). Carol [Sioux YMCA director] invited me to the board member meeting this evening, so I had a short day at camp. The meeting was at the overnight camp (Leslie Marrowbone Camp) 70 miles from Dupree on the Missouri River. I played scribe and took minutes. I can't believe how much goes into running a Y!! Poor Carol! One of the board members is an elder named Ardis. She is sweet and sharp as a tack! I saw an owl (at least I think it was a borrowing owl) on a post as we were leaving camp). Ardis told me that owls are an especially bad omen, so I hope our luck turns around soon!
